Governor Jay Inslee proclaimed May is Arts Education month – let’s celebrate together! Several VSAA students have been recognized for their art.

Alyssa Maggi won a Regional Award for “Catacombs.” Maggi also was independently selected to receive a scholarship from Pacific Northwest College of Art for their pre-college summer program. Teacher: Crystal Zeller.
Sophia Pacheco  earned both a Regional Award and Designer’s Choice Award for “Stream.” Teacher: Crystal Zeller.
Mireyli Quinonez took home an ESD 112 Award for “Look at What You’ve Done.” Quinonez also was independently selected to receive a scholarship from Central Washington University. Teacher: Abby Harris.
Lillia Day secured a Designer’s Choice Award for “Waters.” Day also was independently selected to receive a scholarship from Pacific Northwest College of Art for their pre-college summer program. Teacher: Crystal Zeller.

Pieces were evaluated for awards based on originality, composition, emotion and technique. Regional Award winners will next compete against entries from around the state in the annual State Superintendent of Public Instruction Art Show. Find out more and view their artwork
